Posthumous Publication “Course in General Linguistics” Published in Azerbaijani

The Azerbaijan Translation  Centre (AzTC) is pleased to announce that it has produced “Course in General Linguistics” by Ferdinand de Saussure, a Swiss linguist and semiotician noted for his early structuralist views on language.

The publication of his work is considered the starting point of 20th-century structural linguistics. It is based on his posthumous publication, the Cours de linguistique générale (translated as Course in General Linguistics),a reconstruction of his lectures on the basis of notes by students carefully prepared by his junior colleagues Charles Bally and Albert Séchehaye. It has been translated and published into a huge range of languages, and is a valuable source in defining the development stages of Global Linguistics.

The book is intended for linguistics and translation, as well as for common methodological problems of humanitarian sciences.  The translators are notable linguists, Academician Nizami Jafarov and PhD in Philology Ismail Temiroghlu.
