Leyli and Majnun: The First Opera in the Muslim World
The State Translation Center (TC) has produced a video featuring the history of ‘Leyli and Majnun - the First Opera in the Muslim World’, an opera by Azerbaijan’s prominent composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli. This piece in four acts and six scenes is based on a poem by Muhammad Fuzuli, one of Azerbaijan’s greatest poets and philosophers. The video with subtitles in English, Russian, Turkish (Istanbul), Persian, Arabic, Georgian, French, Ukrainian, Spanish and German languages deals with the composing of ‘Leyli and Majnun’, which became the first opera in the Muslim world.
