Museum of Independence Launches Book to Celebrate 100th Anniversary of Legendary Mehdi Huseynzade

The Museum of Independence on Thursday hosted a launch of a book to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s heroic son Mehdi Huseynzade known under the nickname Michailo, who was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. The event that launched One for All or Mikhailo’s Revenge by the celebrated Slovenian prose writer Peter Amalietti, was attended by representatives of the Azerbaijan State Translation Centre (AzSTC) and Museum of Independence, as well as family members of participants in the Great Patriotic War and the Resistance Movement against Nazism, teachers and pupils from School 19, Baku’s Nasimi District.

In her opening remarks, Farida Shamsi, the director of the Museum, talked about Mehdi Huseynzade’s heroism and the history of the exhibits on display.

Later, Chief of Staff at AzSTC Yashar Aliyev, Farhad Abdullayev, the translator, Mehdi Azizbeyov, the hero’s nephew, and others delivered speeches on Huseynzade’s heroic and honourable life path, and underlined the importance of the book in raising young generation in the spirit of patriotism.

In the conclusion, the pupils of the school welcomed the participants with pieces of verse and music.
