Ambassador Christopher Berroteran: “We would very much like the Azerbaijani reader to get acquainted with Venezuelan literature”
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Azerbaijan, Mr. Christopher Alberto Martinez Berroteran, visited the State Translation Centre the other day.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on translation and publication projects, expansion of inter-country literary relations, as well as the work to be done to promote Venezuelan literature in Azerbaijan. The parties also stressed the importance of conveying the classic and modern literature of Venezuela to the Azerbaijani literary circle.
Expressing his wishes to initially begin with the translation and publication of a collection of poems by the famous Venezuelan poetess Ana Maria Oviedo Palomares into Azerbaijani, the Ambassador mentioned that the book would be a significant contribution to the Venezuelan Republic Day to be celebrated in Azerbaijan in the coming months. At the same time, he noted the significance of implementing prospective projects in the direction of the organization and development of Azerbaijani-Venezuelan literary relations and exchanges within the framework of close cooperation with the Venezuelan Ministry of Culture and the Venezuelan Translation Centre.
At the end of the meeting, the guest presented the Board Chairperson, Afaq Masud, with the book "Blue Book" by Hugo Chávez Frias, the prominent political figure of Venezuela.
