AzTC Representatives Meet Head of the Federation of International Translators and Association for Translation of Turkey
As part of the visit to Turkey to attend the 33rd International Istanbul Book Fair, Azerbaijan Translation Centre (AzTC) representatives Etimad Bashkechid and Farid Huseyn met with Mr Ahmet Varol, Head of the Federation of International Translators and Association for Translation of Turkey. The sides focused on international experiences in the translation industry, building of relationships with related organizations, and issues of mutual interest.
Ahmet Varol said the creation of AzTC was an inevitable step made by Azerbaijan’s Government due to historical necessity: “It is no secret that today great attention is paid to the translation industry throughout the world. Since the translation industry mainly aims to internationally establish fruitful ties in various spheres, to provide readers with quality books, as well as to achieve increased confidence of the country on international level. Literary translation, in this sense, is a branch of these activities. We are translating different texts ranging from contracts of several thousand pages for businesses to legal debates. We have a broad translation network. Presently the Federation does translations from 191 world languages into Turkish, and the Association for Translation of Turkey is a prestigious body whose references are of great value on settling conflict situations between publishing houses relating to plagiary issues.
At the end of the meeting, Ahmet Varol called for closer cooperation with AzTC.
