AzTC sends letter of protest to "MIR" TV channel
The Translation Centre under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Azerbaijan Republic (AzTC) has sent a letter of protest to Ekaterina Abramova, Chief of the MIR TV channel and Ilgar Pashazade, National Representative of the MIR Interstate Television and Radio Broadcasting Company in Azerbaijan. The letter says:
"Dear Ekaterina Abramova,
Your channel has shown disrespect to Azerbaijan and its national-cultural history by introducing Nizami, a Baku Metro station, as one of the world magnificent metros, as the 'metro named after Nizami Ganjavi, a great Persian poet', and Mikail Huseynov, People Architect of Azerbaijan, the architect of the metro, as a 'great Soviet architect' in the TV program "180 минут новостей на завтрак" aired on 23.11.2015.
Nizami Ganjavi was born in the Azerbaijan city of Ganja in 1141. He spent his whole life in Ganja, created his works there, and died there in 1209. He is well-known throughout the world as Azerbaijan's poet. Mikail Huseynov, who was introduced as a 'Soviet architect' is Azerbaijan's celebrated architect.
Covering up the name of 'Azerbaijan' in the text is not a credit to your channel 'MIR'. We hope you take into consideration the afore-named facts and give a retraction in next programs.
You can find attached Nizami Ganjavi's short bibliography.
