Party at the Embassy of Colombia devoted to Marquez
The Embassy of Colombia and the Translation Centre under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Azerbaijan Republic organized a joint event devoted to the literary activity of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, the Nobel-Prize-winner in Literature at the Embassy of Colombia.
H.E. Ms Marta Galindo, the Colombian Chargé d’Affaires to the Republic of Azerbaijan opened the ceremony and gave comprehensive information on the writer’s life and literary activity. She read aloud the writer’s Nobel speech made in 1982 and pieces out of his book ‘Accordion’. Then the floor was given to Yashar Aliyev, Head of AzTC Administration. Language specialists, Ilgar Alfi, Mahir Garayev, Etimad Bashkechid, Farhad Abdullayev and others spoke about Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s literary and journalistic activities.
