I Have Set Myself on the Road of Truth – The Collected Ghazals of Nasimi Published in Ukraine
The Azerbaijan State Translation Centre is pleased to announce the publication in Ukrainian of the book I Have Set Myself on the Road of Truth (“И стал Путем Истины я сам”) to mark 650 years since the birth of the great Azerbaijani poet Imadaddin Nasimi by a publishing house in Kyiv.
The book includes about 200 of the poet’s ghazals, tuyugs (a form of verse that the Turks brought to Divan poetry) and rubais, accompanied by explanations and commentaries on phrases difficult to understand.
Dmitro Chistyak, a notable Ukrainian poet and translator, is the author of the preface Behind the Real Names (“У пошуку живих імен”) .
The book was published by Kyiv-based “Samit -Kniqa” publishing house. It is the first meeting of Nasimi with Ukrainian readers.
The poems were translated by Pavlo Movchan, Mikola Miroshnichenko, Stanislav Telnyuk and Dmitro Chistyak.
The compilers are Dmitro Chistyak and Pusta Akhundova.
