The Selected Works of Bertolt Brecht Published in Azerbaijani

The Azerbaijan State Translation Centre (AzSTC) is pleased to announce that it has published The Selected Works of Bertolt Brecht, a notable German playwright, poet, and theatre practitioner.

The book includes his most popular plays -   Mother Courage and Her Children, Life of Galileo, The Threepenny Opera, and He Said Yes / He Said No.

The main creative idea in works by Brecht, who won a fame as a western theatre reformer in the early twentieth century, was to ‘hold back’ the spectator’s romantic emotions and alienate him or her from this world. Brecht deliberately avoided confrontation escalating artificial tension, but preferred dramatic songs and parodies with journalistic touches.
